Murray Claims Career First Street Stock Victory at Devil's Bowl

Mesquite, TX (June 11) - Richard Murray chased down the early leader and stayed out front to the checkered flag to win his career first Street Stock feature at Devil's Bowl Saturday night.

Jason Troutman topped the USA Limited Modifieds for the first time this season. Wendall Bolden came back from a wrecked car last week to win the Late Model main. Patrik Daniel claimed the USA Modifieds win.

Street Stocks Feature Winner
#68 Richard Murray

Scott Prather started on the pole of the Street Stocks 12-lapper. He jumped out to an early lead, with second row starting Murray moving up right behind Prather.

As the fifth lap ended, Murray had pulled along side Prather at the line. The duo raced side by side around the half-mile oval, with Murray edging ahead coming out of turn four by a car length.

The yellow flag flew a lap later, and on the restart Murray pulled away from Prather and Jason Bolden battle for second. Murray built a comfortable lead by the time Wally Beaty got into the second position as the white flag flew. Prather was third as Beaty finished five car lengths behind Murray at the checkered flag.

Tim McManus and James Shaw, Jr. won the street stock heat races.

USA Limited Modifieds
Feature Winner
#1* Jason Troutman

Jason Troutman topped his season best second place finish last week with a flag to flag victory Saturday night.

Taking the top line around the first and second turns as the green flag flew, Troutman came out of the three wide battle with the lead down the back straight. Pepper Rhea Kuykendall was a strong second as the cars raced around the track.

A caution flag after eight laps were completed bunched the field. Randy Kirkland used the restart to take the runner-up spot, with Jimmy Staats charging into third.

Troutman set the pace to take the win with Kirkland and Staats battling side by side to the finish line, Kirkland ahead by a nose.

Rickey Haney, Robert Vetter and Troutman won the heat races.

Late Models Feature Winner
#28B Wendall Bolden

Last weekend, Wendall Bolden lost most of the front bodywork on his late model in a mid-race crash.

After a long week of hard work, Bolden was back and the effort paid off with a victory in the final feature of the evening.

Ronnie Whitlock set the early pace from the pole, with Skip O'Neal right on his bumper as they charged around the track. Bolden was right behind them, and when the lead duo slipped up the track in the first corner on the fifth lap, Bolden dove to the bottom and powered ahead down the back straight.

O'Neal tried to stay with Bolden, but the #28B was setup perfectly for a fast track. Bolden had no problems as he charged to his second victory of the season. O'Neal took the runner-up spot with Max Eddie Thomas taking third.

The late model heats were won by Thomas and Patrik Daniel.

USA Modifieds Feature Winner
#75 Patrik Daniel

Daniel had no trouble in a fast USA Modifieds feature as he chased down early leader Gary Corbin at the half-way mark on his way victory. It was the fifth USA Modifieds victory for Daniel this season. Richard McGibboney was third behind Corbin at the checkers. Corbin won the heat race.
