Jun 07, 2011 by Rick FALLON, Nev. – Ten $1,000 to win features for IMCA Modifieds are on the ticket for the Evenson Law Office Ironman Challenge Series.
The inaugural tour takes traveling IMCA Modifieds to five Nevada tracks from Thursday, June 9 to Saturday, June 18. An anonymous sponsor has guaranteed the $1,000 payout each night, making each race a qualifying event for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
Any program with 40 or more Modifieds entered generates an additional $250 for the series point fund, to be paid out to top 10 drivers in final point standings. National, ButlerBuilt Western Region and Allstar Performance Nevada State points will be awarded each night.
“This is a win-win scenario for the drivers,” Tour Director Ken Hansen said, citing the combination of nightly payouts and the point fund, along with the opportunity for drivers to race for points on 10 consecutive nights.
The series debuts at Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon June 9-10 during the Octane Fest special, then travels to Lovelock Speedway June 11-12 and to Winnemucca Regional Raceway June 13-14.
Shows June 15-16 at Battle Mountain Raceway double as EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour races. The series concludes at Great Basin Raceway in Ely on June 17-18.
All IMCA rules and Wild West Tour procedures will be in effect. The top two drivers in final point standings will be invited to compete in the WWMT Showdown during the November Duel In The Desert at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The champion will be eligible to qualify for the Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals in September.
Tour sponsor Steven Evenson is a long-time IMCA Modified driver and practices personal injury, criminal defense and family law matters in all of the five communities where series events will be held.
