ABILENE, Texas – One of the biggest IMCA events in Texas just got bigger. The Southern SportMod Nationals joins the 18th Annual Ryan Bard Memorial Southern Challenge program at Abilene Speedway.
This year the event will be held on Thursday, October 18th thru Saturday, October 20th, with no racing on Sunday.
Qualifying events for all divisions will be held Thursday and Friday, with last chance races and main events under the lights on Saturday night.
An open practice session for all divisions will be held Wednesday, October 17th.
“That schedule should provide the most ideal track conditions possible,” emphasized IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root, also noting that the October date is not on a holiday weekend, which should allow more drivers to compete.
Abilene hosts the event in the third year of the Southern SportMod Nationals’ rotating schedule.
There will be a $75,000 Purse for these events. Click here for the Abilene Speedway race flyer for more information http://abilenespeedway.com/so_challenge_12.htm.
